John Backus

John Backus is one of the first names I’ve heard, back at the times of the university. He’s the guy who came out with the Backus-Naur form, that you may remember under the acronym BNF. He also got a National Medal of Science and a Turing Award: we are talking about a PILLAR of modern computer science.  I’ve heard that mr. Backus passed away days ago, and the very least I can do is granting him the tribute of a post. Thank you mr. Backus, that “B” in BNF will never look small to me.
